As a Ph.D. student in the Kulathinal/Ragin labs, I contribute to the existing pool of ancestry informative markers (AIMs) for African populations. These analyses provide a framework to study the genetic basis of population-specific disease pathways, identify potential selective targets and act as a starting point to explore the mutational landscape of understudied populations.
