Dean's Advisory Committee

Members of the Dean's Advisory Committee (DAC) are entrusted with a critical responsibility in shaping the future trajectory of CST and fostering excellence in all aspects of our academic endeavors. DAC member expertise, insights and perspectives are invaluable assets as the college navigates the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. In fulfilling its charge, the Dean's Advisory Committee plays a vital role in advancing the mission and vision of CST and ensuring its continued success and excellence. 

Charge of the Dean's Advisory Committee

1. Appointment of Academic Administrators

Ensure the continued excellence and integrity of our academic leadership team. Your role in this committee is pivotal in selecting candidates who embody the values, vision, and capabilities essential for effective academic administration within our institution. Conduct a thorough and comprehensive review of all candidates' qualifications, credentials, and experiences. Evaluate each candidate's academic background, leadership skills, administrative experience, and commitment to our college's mission and values. Strive to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the selection process. Seek candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. Look for individuals who have a track record of fostering a supportive and inclusive academic environment, promoting scholarly excellence, and advancing the mission of our institution. Based on your thorough assessment and deliberations, provide recommendations to the dean regarding the appointment of academic administrators. Present your findings, rationale, and any relevant feedback or concerns to inform the dean's decision-making process.

2. Strategic Guidance

Provide strategic guidance and counsel to the Dean on matters pertaining to the overall direction and priorities of the institution. This includes but is not limited to the formulation and revision of academic policies and programs, research initiatives, student success, diversity and inclusion eDorts, and community engagement.

3. Institutional Advancement

Assist in advancing the institution's reputation and standing regionally, nationally, and internationally. Identify opportunities for partnerships, collaborations, and resource development that will enhance our academic programs, research endeavors, and institutional impact.

4. Program Evaluation

Review and evaluate existing academic programs, research initiatives, and support services to ensure alignment with the college's mission, goals, and standards of excellence. Provide recommendations for enhancements, modifications, or discontinuations as necessary.

5. College Budget

Provide strategic guidance and recommendations to the Dean regarding the allocation and management of the college budget. The committee's insights and expertise are essential in ensuring the effective utilization of resources to support the college's mission, goals, and priorities. Advise the Dean on matters related to budget planning, allocation, and oversight. The committee plays a critical role in reviewing budget proposals, assessing funding priorities, and recommending resource allocations that align with the college's strategic objectives and academic priorities.

6. Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging

Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the institution and advise on strategies to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members of our community. Advocate for initiatives that foster a culture of belonging and support the success of students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.

7. Student Success

Support efforts to enhance student success and promote a holistic educational experience that prepares students for leadership, citizenship, and lifelong learning. Provide input on policies, programs, and initiatives aimed at improving retention, graduation rates, and the overall student experience.
