Bethann Mercanti is the Director of Clinical Operations for the Neurological Institute at Cooper University Healthcare in Camden, New Jersey. She has her Bachelor of the Arts degree in Biology and her Master of Medical Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies. She has practiced in neurology for 9 years, specializing in stroke and cerebrovascular disease. She has developed the Comprehensive Stroke Program at Cooper University Healthcare, achieving Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Certification status, the first in South Jersey. She also began the Cooper Telestroke program with local healthcare systems to provide acute stroke services. She was also the first PA on faculty at the Cooper Medical School at Rowan University, where she provides academic mentorship to medical students. She currently has 3 active research studies focusing on clinical outcomes for stroke patients.

In addition to the neurosciences, Bethann’s passion is physician assistant advocacy, education, and professional growth. She started the Pre-PA Shadowing Program for pre-PA students to shadow with PAs in various specialties. She is also an instructor at Jefferson University’s Physician Assistant Program, and a clinical site preceptor for several PA Programs. Most recently, she became Director of Temple University’s Post-Baccalaureate Clinical Enhancement Program, serving to coordinate clinical experiences for students. She received her Doctor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences for a , focusing on health care research and organizational leadership.
