My research focuses on the study of how evolutionary forces (selection, drift, gene flow, recombination, mutation) shape the organism’s genetic diversity. In the past, I applied computational methods to study population demography and adaptation of several organisms, mostly insects. Recently, I have been interested in developing computational approaches to study demography and selection and to quantify selection acting on synonymous mutations. These approaches can help us gain insight into the evolution of humans and other organisms of evolutionary interests such as pathogens, pests, and species challenged by climate changes.
