Bioinformatics and Biological Data Science PSM
ALUMNI
Upon completing the program, alums have gotten jobs as data analysts, bioinformaticians, scientists, and bioinformatics engineers at companies and institutions such as:
- Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS)
- Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
- Foundation Medicine
- FOXO Technologies
- The Wistar Institute
Read more about a few of our alums below.

"While the didactic material in the program exposed me to a lot of new ideas in bioinformatics, I think the most important experience I gained from the program was an understanding of networking and real-world bioinformatics research experience through the capstone project. My capstone project was really a precursor for the work that I do day-to-day at Coriell: taking raw sequencing data all the way to results and interpretation. And the networking experience that I gained really prepared me for collaborating with a wide range of scientists and clinicians."
Saamia Farooki
BS, Biology, Temple University, '23
PSM, Bioinformatics, Temple University, '24
"I chose this program so I’d have the opportunity to learn specialized computer science and analysis techniques in the field of biology and genomics. This program helped me gain exposure to coding techniques that have assisted me in my job position changes."
Adam Karami
BS, Biotechnology, Rutgers University, '15
PSM, Bioinformatics, Temple University, '20
"The PSM program has been absolutely pivotal to my career. The instructors and course materials immediately introduced me to relevant concepts in contemporary bioinformatics and ultimately taught me how to learn and ask the right questions in this fast-paced field. By the end of the first year, I was able to land a job in bioinformatics that let me continuously implement the concepts I learned throughout the program.”
STEERING COMMITTEE
The steering committee members serve not only to guide the program’s curriculum and students but also serve as program educators and research mentors to the program’s students.
ADVISORY BOARD
As a PSM, the Temple Bioinformatics and biological data science program relies greatly on its board of outside experts drawn from industry and research centers in the Philadelphia area. These board members advise on curriculum issues and internship/research opportunities.
