Marina Garwood is an Adjunct Instructor for all things in Biology Labs. At Temple she has run labs for Biomolecules, Cells, and Genomics; Mammalian Anatomy; Experimental Marine Biology; and Introduction to Organismal Biology. She believes in creating an integrated, adaptive, and inclusive classroom where students can explore biological science. Marina works to cultivate interactive learning, individual growth, and the educational advancement of students through the instruction of laboratory-based undergraduate biology courses. She uses the curriculum to demonstrate the universal application of biological science as it pertains to interdisciplinary, global-scale problem solving. Additionally, she encourages the fundamental skills of self-efficacy while maintaining dynamic pedagogy to provide all students and instructors avenues for achievement.
After graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of New Hampshire, Marina went on to explore many facets of the zoological field. From educational outreach to vivarium research, Marina then went on to pivot her career direction. Marina expanded her portfolio into oenology and obtained the WSET Level 1 & 2 Award in Wines from the International Wine Center, passing with distinction. Further expanding her multidisciplinary experience, Marina now studies towards an M.Sc. in International Marine Science from Heriot-Watt University. As a driven, adaptive, and multidisciplinary problem solver, she seeks to grow her career with Temple around research, consulting, and integrated policy development that focuses on the interface between scientific and social communities.
