Dr. Muto is a glaciologist/polar geophysicist whose major research goal is to understand past, present and future changes of polar ice sheets and glaciers, and their drivers. His current research topics include revealing subglacial conditions beneath Antarctic and Greenland Ice Sheets using remotely sensed and surface geophysical data, and studying past surface-temperature changes in Antarctica using borehole thermometry. He currently teaches remote sensing, glaciology and physical geology.
