CST’s fall Undergraduate Research Symposium is scheduled for Wednesday, November 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., in the Science Education and Research Center lobby.
Dozens of CST students will present posters detailing their research work, conducted through the college’s Research Scholars Program and other research opportunities. In addition to the keynote speaker, Chantelle Nobile Hart from the College of Public Health, CST Dean Miguel Mostafá will also address the student presenters and attendees.
The event schedule is:
- Poster Session 1: 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
- Dean’s Remarks and Keynote Address (SERC, Room 116): 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
- Poster Session 2: 2:15 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.
- Poster Session 3: 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Hart is professor of social and behavioral sciences and research scientist at the Center for Obesity Research and Education in the College of Public Health at Temple University.
Trained as a clinical psychologist, her program of research focuses on the identification of novel behavioral targets for prevention and treatment of pediatric obesity and associated cardiometabolic diseases. She has two primary lines of research: understanding the role of enhancing children’s sleep to decrease the risk of obesity, and the effect of early life risk factors on children’s obesity risk. A cross cutting theme of this work is the identification of effective approaches to decrease health disparities in pediatric population.
