New Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee
As a part of the Temple University community, the College of Science and Technology is committed to fostering a better understanding of racism and advocating for antiracist policies at all levels.
Echoing President Richard Englert, the college’s efforts must “go beyond what we say, and must include what we do.” Professor Allen Nicholson, Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs, has formed a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, chaired by Professor Richard Souvenir, Associate Dean for Graduate Affairs, which includes representatives from all CST departments.
As its name implies, the committee will review policies and practices relating to diversity, equity and inclusion across the college. I have asked the committee to make recommendations for substantive changes that can be implemented relatively quickly as well as longer-term structural transformation.
As we all work to understand and contribute meaningfully to these important issues, CST faculty and staff can access helpful resources available through Temple’s Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership (IDEAL).
