Dr. Rob Kulathinal, Dr. Marcus Bingenheimer, and Vinny Coltellino coordinating the Sutra2DNA donation
Biology faculty member, Dr. Rob Kulathinal, and CLA collaborator, Dr. Marcus Bingenheimer, were recently featured in a Library of Congress story highlighting Sutra2DNA, an innovative project that encoded the ancient Diamond Sutra into synthetic DNA as a long-term storage medium. The project recently reached a major milestone when independent researchers successfully recovered the text with 100% fidelity, demonstrating the potential of DNA-based storage to preserve humanity's cultural and scientific heritage for generations to come. A stupa containing this Temple-made DNA-encoded Diamond Sutra now resides in the Library of Congress.
