Five years after an EF2 tornado devastated Temple University’s Ambler Campus, researchers are continuing to study how the landscape is recovering and adapting following this major disturbance.

A recent Chestnut Hill Local article highlights the work of Temple Ambler Field Station researchers, including Biology faculty and students, who have transformed the aftermath of the 2021 tornado into an opportunity to study ecological resilience. Rather than extensively intervening in affected areas, researchers have followed the natural regeneration of plant and wildlife communities, providing valuable insight into how ecosystems respond to extreme weather events.
