Mathematics Department postdoc Luke Peilen has been named a Project NExT fellow of the Mathematical Association of America.
Project NExT (New Experiences in Teaching) is a professional development program for new or recent PhDs in the mathematical sciences, focusing on improving the teaching and learning of mathematics, engaging in research and scholarship, and developing novel service opportunities. As part of the fellowship, Peilen will attend the MAA national meeting (MAA MathFest) and the Joint Mathematics Meeting with the American Mathematical Society (AMS) to participate in a series of teaching and professional development workshops.
“I will also meet throughout the year with a teaching mentor and small group to develop as a mathematics educator,’ said Peilen. “I look forward to integrating innovating teaching strategies into my classes at Temple!”
