Zoran Obradovic, Laura H. Carnell Professor of Data Analytics and Director of the Center for Data Analytics and Biomedical Informatics, recently earned a Yahoo Research Faculty and Research Engagement Program (FREP) Award for research modeling the temporal dynamics of user behavior for improved advertising.

Yahoo Research announced this year's FREP recipients in September. According to Yahoo, each year "FREP awards grants to faculty members in support of research to enhance people's lives by improving the internet." More than 100 proposals were submitted and 15 were selected for the award.

The expected benefit of Obradovic's research "is that the proposed methodology can be used to infer users' interests more accurately, which will benefit modeling users' funnel resulting in improved conversion prediction and larger revenue."

Obradovic is the editor-in-chief at the Big Data journal, the steering committee chair at the SIAM Data Mining Conference and is an editorial board member at eleven journals.
