Jay Lunden is an Associate Professor of Instruction in Biology. He directs the laboratory program for majors’ introductory biology, including curriculum development, assessment of student learning, and advising for all intro bio students. Jay created and facilitates the Peer Laboratory Assistant (PLA) program that allows upper-level students to partner with a laboratory instructor in teaching the intro bio labs. He also serves as one of the Faculty Advisors in the Biology Department, primarily assisting first-year and transfer students.

- BIOL 1911 Honors Introduction to Organismal Biology (Spring semester)
- BIOL 3244 Experimental Marine Biology (Summer I semester)
- BIOL 3316 Tropical Marine Biology (Fall semester)

Jay is the recipient of the 2024 Italia-Eire Distinguished Teacher of the Year Award and the 2025 Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award.
