Applications and nominations for the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Advancement in the College of Science and Technology are now being accepted. Eligible candidates are full-time faculty in the College of Science and Technology at the Associate level or higher. This position is responsible for supporting, advocating for, and advancing faculty success at all levels of the institution.
This position reports directly to the Dean and is a member of the Dean’s leadership team. The Associate Dean will assist departments with faculty recruiting, offer development, hiring, retirement, emeritus nominations, etc., run new faculty orientation, coordinate the promotion and/or tenure and third-year review processes, and faculty awards. The Associate Dean will also lead initiatives for the development of a robust support infrastructure for faculty within the College, including leadership and professional development opportunities. The Associate Dean will oversee College committees such as Promotion and Tenure, College Governance, Policy, and represent the College in various University-wide administrative and topic-focused committees and will interface between the College and University on a wide range of issues.
Success in this role will depend heavily on cooperation with a variety of University offices and the ability to work collaboratively with the leadership team and college departments. Collaboration is essential to ensure alignment of programming with College and University strategic goals, implementing college practices to achieve these goals, and to support students and postdoctoral scholars allowing them to achieve success. Candidates should have a firm commitment to excellence, experience in service, high ethical standards, and effective communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Relevant qualifications may include (but are certainly not limited to) experience in tenure and promotion committees, demonstrated interest and awareness of faculty and staff development needs and best practices, experience with leadership and/or strategy in a programmatic, department, college or university level roles, and experience in faculty and/or staff search committees.
