The overarching goal for our partnership with the Philadelphia High School for Girls, sponsored through a Tensor SUMMA grant from the Mathematical Association of America, was to provide the students at the PHSG with
1) continued opportunities to support and solidify their mathematical studies resulting in improved confidence in their abilities,
2) exposure to mathematical opportunities that build awareness of the multitude of ways in which mathematics plays a role in a wide range of areas,
3) familiarity with Temple University and the Department of Mathematics, and
4) professional and student female role models in STEM fields. Activities consisted of Fall Bootcamps at Temple University, mathematical tutoring sessions at PHSG, a visit to MoMath, the National Mathematics Museum in NYC, summer guided research in graph theory, and involvement in the Sonia Kovalevsky annual departmental activities.
