Welcome to Temple University's Physics Department!

Our mission is to foster an internationally-recognized community of scholars dedicated to pushing the boundaries of scientific knowledge while providing exceptional educational opportunities through research, teaching, and outreach endeavors.

Located in the Science, Education and Research Center (SERC), with state-of -the-art facilities, our faculty members are at the forefront of research spanning various length and energy scales, from the study of individual fundamental particles to the exploration of emergent collective phenomena. The research fields fall broadly into three areas of expertise, namely Atomic, Molecular & Optical (AMO) Physics; Condensed Matter Physics; and Physics of Nuclei and Particles. We are passionate about bringing our expertise and enthusiasm into the classroom, offering engaging educational experiences at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

At Temple's Physics Department, we pride ourselves on preparing undergraduate majors in Physics for success across a multitude of fields. Undergraduate students may choose from programs in physics, quantum materials science, biophysics, and computational physics. Our programs equip students with the essential skills to study complex problems—a capability highly sought after in both industry and the public sector, and one that fosters entrepreneurial endeavors. Whether your passion lies in uncovering the mysteries of the universe, engineering innovative solutions, or beyond, a Physics major at Temple will position you for success.

To prospective students, we extend a warm invitation to explore our programs, learn about admissions procedures, and discover exciting research opportunities. We look forward to welcoming you into our vibrant community of scholars and learners.
