Find Your Research

Research opportunities on Main Campus, Health Sciences Center and more

CST offers research opportunities for students across all disciplines of science during the academic year and throughout the summers. There are academic-year opportunities in many labs; many are supported by CST through the Research Scholars Program. To participate in the Research Scholars Program, students must complete at least 10 credits in science and math with a 2.75 GPA.

Summer research fellowship is available, but it is more competitive and limited to students who have completed four semesters and have an overall GPA of 3.0.

Beginning research means finding a research mentor. To find a mentor you should:

  • Create a list of faculty that you would like to work with based on your interests using web resources, CST communications, and peer information.
  • Make sure you select more than one, as lab space is limited.
  • Use faculty researcher websites to read more about the research being conducted by each faculty member you would be interested in working with:
  1. Do they have their own lab, and if so, what does their research focus on?
  2. Read through at least one publication by that faculty member to learn more about their research.
  3. You are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you!  But assume for you this is a job interview, be prepared with knowledge and ask informed questions.
  4. Provide your updated resume in the email when you send it
